NYCAEYC Service to the Field Honor

The NYCAEYC Service to the Field Honor recognizes an NYCAEYC member who:

  • Is an educator (school/center or family-based programs)
  • Works in higher education
  • Works for a professional organization that provides training and support to early childhood professionals and students
  • Works for an agency that serve the needs, rights, and well being of young children

Nominees can be:

  • From full-day child care centers
  • Half-day preschools
  • School-age child care
  • Kindergarten and primary education (public and private)
  • Infant/toddler programs
  • Schools/centers/agencies serving children with special needs
  • Home-based child care programs
  • Schools/Centers/Agencies serving children with special needs

Criteria for selection — the nominee must:

  1. Be a current member of NYCAEYC. The nominee may not be a current Board member or a member of the award subcommittee.

  2. Have demonstrated:
    1. Dedication to improving the quality of life for young children and their families.
    2. Superior ability to inspire members toward professionalism through dedication and concern for young children.
    3. Professional and personal qualities that clearly indicate that this person is outstanding in her or his field.

  3. Be nominated by one or more of the following:
    1. Current or past colleague or student of the nominee
    2. Current NYCAEYC Board Member
    3. Current NYCAEYC Committee Chairpersons
